Black Sun Empire is a drum ‘n bass trio that has been releasing tracks and have been touring the globe since the late 90’s. After a few years of cohabitation with the Kytopia crew, they were ready to create their own creative melting pot.
Black Sun Empire reached out to EV-acoustics for the full design of their new location. Because ultra-low frequencies are the key to Drum ‘n Bass it was important to Rene, Milan and Micha that we created 3 rooms with an extreme high decoupling value. Another important design criteria was that all 3 rooms needed a very controlled low-frequency response.
The box-in-box construction is made of floating chalk-limestone walls and a floating concrete floor. A whopping total of 96 vinyl membranes were used in this project. So yes, that low-end is controlled very well. From the day Rene, Milan and Micha started producing in these studio’s they are able to playback Drum ‘n Bass at full volume without hearing a single dB in the studio next door.
